Concert Performances

Hildegard Reanimated: Vision in Vision

The Pandora Consort explores the mystical visions of Hildegard von Bingen through her illuminations and music. Taking inspiration from her life, we weave them together in a concert program focused on four of her most famous visions that influenced her spiritual philosophy. Working with visual artist Cate Duckwall to bring these visions to life, this concert features music from Hildegard’s vast oeuvre accompanied by artistic animations of key illuminations, creating a multimedia experience.

The Witching Hour

The Pandora Consort presents a musical exploration of the role of women and witchcraft throughout history. This performance features vocal works ranging from Hildegard von Bingen to New England folk songs to ensemble works by living composers Amy Beth Kirsten and Kerry Andrews. The music is accompanied by poetry and art that embodies the spirit of rebellious women, and it draws from historical accounts of accused witches and witchcraft with a modern interpretation of creating one’s own feminine power. The Pandora Consort and guest vocalists Gina Marie Falk and Lea Peterson weave a musical spell you’ll not soon forget.

Vox Feminae: Songs of Powerful Women
The Pandora Consort presents a musical exploration of heroic women throughout history. By combining music, art, and movement, this performance brings to life the stories of Eurydice, Susannah, Cleopatra, and other historical heroines. Inspired by the lives of these figures as well as the women who set their stories to music, this program features works by early female composers: Barbara Strozzi, Antonia Bembo, Isabella Leonarda, and Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre. SoHIP marks the debut performance of the Pandora Consort, a newly formed early music ensemble focused on reimagining the performance of Classical music with multimedia, interactive performance, and exploring underrepresented music and composers.

Worlds Collide Showcase

Now in its third year, The Pandora Consort's annual event, the Worlds Collide Showcase is a concert, competition, and fundraising event focused on cross-genre collaboration. This concert is the culmination of duets and trios of up and coming professional musicians from different musical worlds who teamed up to create a new song. Each team fundraises for a local charity of their choice and has the opportunity to promote their own work as well as the work of their chosen charitable organization. At the end of the concert, the audience votes for the winning ensemble which receives a cash prize as well as a prize for their chosen charity.
Since its inception, the Worlds Collide Showcase has raised funds for organizations such as the Just A Start Corporation, Planned Parenthood Southeast, Trans Emergency Fund, Pine Street Inn, the National Network of Abortion Funds, and the North End Music and Performing Arts Center.

On the Horizon

Looking ahead we're planning to produce several new projects, including a short early music film and develop a program of North American early folk music.
